Health Fairs

Students have opportunities to teach about health promotion and disease prevention and to do health screenings at the community level. They also are invited to bring health education programs into the schools.

Research Foundation and Integration

Students undertake a nursing research course to learn more about implementing Evidenced Based Practice. Students also have the option to strengthen their research understanding by completing the research honors track that will allow them to earn an honors designation on their diploma. The research honors also enables students to earn advanced standing in the MSN plan of study. As a synthesis piece, in semester 4 the community course allows students an opportunity to complete a community research project. Student groups create poster presentations that are informed by a review of the research and present their findings within the SON and the wider nursing community. This activity also reinforces professional behaviors and presentation skills.
